Many people implement food combining as a way to eat healthier. Just what is food combining and the actual pattern is beneficial to health?

Food combining or often abbreviated FC subscribes to the theory that foods can be grouped into two categories: acid-forming foods and alkaline water forming / alkaline body. Consumption of these two food groups considered affecting levels of body's acid-base so that acidic foods such as meat and fish should not be consumed together with alkaline foods such as rice and potatoes. Carbohydrates, for example, alkaline, alkaline conditions need to be digested, so it should not be taken with acidic protein.

The theory of food combining claims to nourish the body to maintain acid-base balance in the blood levels. But until now no substantial scientific evidence could support the theory.

  • Food is not the only determinant of pH levels in the blood. There are many other things such as physical activity, age, and health conditions that affect, so we can not focus solely on food consumption.
